A Lost Art?

A couple weeks ago I bought some really cute notecards from Home and Company in Downtown Holland (which is a really cute store owned by some of our friends) and I realized that I don’t send or receive nearly as many handwritten notes nearly as much as I used to. I’ve sent and received plenty of e-cards and e-mails and have joined several groups (myspace/yahoo) online, and now I am blogging and so are many others. With all of these new things to keep us in touch with each other, are we missing human contact?

Please don’t get me wrong… I am in no ways down on technology and I really do love that I can read blogs, and send e-mails to friends at all hours of the day, however, it is never the same as a handwritten card or a phone call.

I used to write thank you notes for almost everything. Now, I rarely send any type of notes and my Christmas cards are pictures with little to no handwriting to be found. Is picking up the phone, writing a letter or thank you note really a thing of the past or is it still important today? As much as I like seeing e-mails in my inbox, a handwritten note or a phone call seems much more thoughtful and makes me feel even more loved!

That being said, I am going to try to use my new notes and have more personal contact with the people I am closest to (not to say that I’m going to stop e-mailing or blogging:)).

I like this post. It is so true. We get wrapped up in the internet quite a bit, which is very fun, but you're right, everyone loves a note/letter/thank you in the mail! I have started to make my own cards, which has me being crafty...i.e. the v-day card! Hope you liked it!:)
xoxo!!
