I have officially been living in
Chicago for about 1 ½ years.
Since moving here, my eyes have been opened to different kinds of food and drinks by my family, friends, and coworkers.
For instance, I had never tried sushi before I came to
Chicago.
I tried this with some of my coworkers about a year ago (I had them pick out things they thought I might like) and now I love sushi.
However, I will say that for a while I was nervous going to a sushi place and ordering, because I often had no clue what everything was and had no idea what items I would like.
I have also gained a much greater appreciation for wine and cheese. This is mainly due to Bill and I’s visit out to Napa Valley to visit my brother last May (he works at a winery out in Napa ~ Grgich Hills). Before that trip I really only liked sweet white wines and the only cheese I ate was the regularly packaged cheese you can get at any average grocery store (gasp!). I now enjoy many different kinds of wines (both white and red) and absolutely LOVE all different types of good cheeses. We now often have an almost full wine rack , go searching for good cheeses and cheese stores (I miss Sunshine Foods!), and I just received a cheese board for Christmas (Thanks Dave!).
I’m sure there are many more foods and drinks I have grown an appreciation for since moving, and I’m sure I will put more comments up as I think of them.
