Last night I decided to make my own sweet potato fries since I love sweet potatoes but am trying to find a new easy way to cook them. They were really easy and pretty healthy. I only made 1 potato worth last night since I didn’t really know what I was doing, but we liked them so much I will definitely make many more sometime soon! I didn’t have a real recipe, I just kind of made them plain.
What I did: Peel the potatoes, cut them into strips (as thick or thin as you like) spray a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray. Place the potato strips on the baking sheet, and I sprayed it with a little spray butter and sprinkled with salt. I baked it at 375° (that was what I was already cooking something at) for about 25 minutes, rotating the fries once halfway through. We ate them plain - but if anyone has any ideas about what type of dip would go with these type of fries, I would love to hear them.
After I made them I looked up some recipes and I saw some have
taco seasonings or a mix of a
bunch of spices which are all well and good (and probably taste great!), but I’ll probably just stick with the easy route! Making these made me think of when I was younger and my dad used to make delicious homemade fries to go with our hamburgers. They were so good and perfect with a hamburger, but probably not healthy (and if I remember right my mom was never a big fan of the mess the fryer made), so I guess this is a good alternative - especially if you like sweet potatoes as much as I do!!!
